Freaky Friday at Adelaide Arcade
Ghost stories, gut feelings & clearing the heavy stuff
This week on TLC The Life Chat, we went full spooky mode and honestly, we’re still not over it.
On a Friday night inside Adelaide Arcade, we found ourselves deep in conversation about the paranormal and the energy felt very real. From haunted history to personal experiences that gave us chills, this chat took a turn we didn’t expect (but secretly loved).
We unpack the Arcade’s eerie reputation, including the story of a resident spirit linked to a tragic accident in one of South Australia’s first electrified buildings. From there, we explore the idea that spirits exist on different “frequencies,” and what that could mean for intuition, déjà vu, and those moments that feel a little too coincidental.
And then something happened...
While Tina was sharing a hospital story, Cassie suddenly felt a chill come over her. At the exact same moment, both her and Lauren stopped and turned because they felt something. Even stranger, they both saw something despite the space being empty.
Things get more personal as we share real-life encounters from unsettling house-sitting experiences to a haunting in a Hindmarsh Island rental that escalated from electrical glitches to something far more confronting. Think moving objects, unseen presences, and a child sensing what no one else could ignore.
We also explore:
Whether your energy can attract certain experiences
The line between spirituality and fear
Reincarnation, premonitions & gut feelings
Sleep paralysis vs something more
Ways people try to clear negative energy
There’s also a powerful reflection on what happens after the fear returning to calm, love, and feeling safe again. Because while this episode leans into the spooky, it’s also about understanding, protection, and trusting yourself.
Whether you’re a skeptic, a believer, or somewhere in between this one will get you thinking.

Mic 1:
Okay, so happy Friday. It’s Friday night, we’re in Adelaide Arcade.
Mic 2:
Freaky Friday.
Mic 1:
What? Yeah… and we’re gonna talk about some supernatural stuff tonight.
Mic 3:
Mm.
Mic 1:
Adelaide Arcade is one of the most—if not the most—haunted locations in Adelaide.
Mic 3:
Serious?
Mic 1:
Did you not know this?
Mic 3:
No. This is why we’re here.
Mic 1:
There’s a resident ghost. They actually do ghost tours here.
Mic 3:
I did not know that.
Mic 1:
Yeah.
Mic 2:
We talked about this last time.
Mic 1:
Well… did we lock that door, by the way?
Mic 2:
Yes. I’m pretty sure I saw you lock it. Leave the lights on.
Mic 1:
So… it’s super haunted.
You were saying about the dry cleaning—so directly across is where he lives… or died.
So it’s a guy. If you go down the hall to the toilets, there’s a black and white photo at the end—that’s him. He’s the ghost.
This building was the first electrified building in South Australia. First one with mains power. And he fell into the power box.
Mic 2:
And got fried.
Mic 1:
Yeah. And the people in the—
Mic 2:
That’s not funny. I’m not laughing.
Mic 3:
You’re crying.
Mic 2:
I’m just tired.
Mic 1:
There’s gonna be a lot of laughter from tiredness.
So the people in the dry cleaners where he resides—they get migraines and stuff when he’s around.
Mic 3:
Wow.
Mic 1:
Yeah, they actually have ghost tours for him.
Mic 3:
Have you seen him?
Mic 1:
No.
Mic 3:
Have you heard him?
Mic 1:
No, but remember when we were in Central Market Arcade? That big store with the basement?
Mic 3:
Yes.
Mic 1:
That place was seriously haunted. You’d go down there and it was ice cold.
Mic 2:
Like ice.
Mic 1:
Even non-believers had experiences there.
Mic 2:
I’m keen to hear your stories.
Mic 1:
I have none.
Mic 2:
Okay, I have none.
Mic 1:
Before we get into that, can I just say—this is how I explain death and spirits to my daughter.
The human body is like a radio, and the spirit is like radio waves.
The waves are always there. When you tune the radio, you can hear them.
Our bodies tune into a specific spirit—that becomes us.
When our body dies, the waves are still there. You just can’t hear them anymore.
Mic 2:
So the radio dies?
Mic 1:
Yeah, the physical radio stops working.
Mic 3:
Into landfill.
Mic 1:
Into landfill consciousness.
Everyone has a different take. I call it consciousness.
I believe we’re all consciousness in the universe. Frequencies. Then we choose to have a human experience.
And I do believe some of us choose to come back.
Mic 2:
I was brought up Christian, so I never believed in reincarnation.
But I’ve never believed that you die and that’s it.
Mic 3:
What would be the point?
Mic 2:
Exactly. There’d be no point.
Mic 1:
We’re such a tiny blip in the universe.
Mic 2:
Do you think about parallel universes?
Like… the same thing happening at the same time, but in another universe?
Mic 1:
Yeah, multiple.
Mic 2:
Déjà vu—I get it a lot. I feel like it’s happening right now somewhere else.
Mic 3:
That makes me nervous.
Mic 2:
Same. I feel like something bad is about to happen.
Mic 1:
Mine’s different. I’ll know what someone’s about to say before they say it.
Mic 3:
That’s premonition.
Mic 1:
Yeah.
Mic 2:
Have you ever thought about being psychic?
Mic 1:
I’ve been told I have that ability.
Mic 2:
So what was your first real supernatural experience?
Mic 1:
The strongest stuff has been in the last few years, but I’ve had earlier encounters.
Like seances in high school—I didn’t participate, but I watched.
And I always felt weird about it.
Mic 1:
But this one… this is intense.
We were renting a house on Hindmarsh Island.
Apparently people kept moving out quickly before us.
We moved in with our three daughters.
At first, little things—TV turning on and off, washing machine changing cycles.
Then it escalated.
My daughter’s TV would turn on with static in the middle of the night.
Then my computer would type on its own.
Mic 2:
No way.
Mic 1:
Yeah. I’d take my hands off the keyboard and it kept going.
Then one night, my husband and I are in bed, and the door handle starts moving.
Back and forth.
We open the door—no one there.
We both saw it.
Mic 1:
Then it got worse.
I’d walk down the hallway and feel something physically bump into me.
One night I woke up feeling like someone shook me—and I saw an outline.
Like a watery silhouette moving beside the bed.
My husband later said he felt something sitting on his chest.
Mic 1:
Then a friend called me from Victoria.
She’d seen a psychic who said, “Tell your friend there’s something dark in her roof.”
Mic 1:
Then one day my husband saw a chair drag across the floor.
That’s when we knew—we needed help.
Mic 1:
I went to a church and spoke to a minister.
He believed me.
He brought two women to cleanse the house.
They said something demonic was there.
They went through, prayed, blessed every room.
When I walked back in… I felt it immediately.
Like this wave of peace and love.
It was gone.
Mic 2:
Did things get better after that?
Mic 1:
Yeah. Everything improved—our mood, the kids, even our luck.
Mic 2:
So what comes first—low energy attracting it, or it causing the low energy?
Mic 1:
I don’t know. Chicken or the egg.
Mic 1:
Then more recently, during a really dark time, I was house-sitting in an old house.
I woke up to something tugging my leg.
The dogs were going crazy.
Later I couldn’t move—like something was holding me down.
I felt this heavy, evil presence in the room.
It went on all night.
Mic 1:
A friend gave me crystals, sage, salt—told me what to do.
I did everything.
And it stopped.
Mic 2:
That’s wild.
Mic 3:
I didn’t think I had experiences… but I remembered one.
We did a seance in high school.
The glass was moving, spelling things no one could know.
Then we all heard footsteps going up the stairs.
No one was there.
Mic 3:
Also—my husband and his friend were once told in a seance how they’d die.
Same ages, same situation.
Years later, they were in that exact scenario… and swapped drivers because of it.
Mic 2:
That’s insane.
Mic 3:
I also get sleep paralysis.
I’ll feel someone in the bed, pinning me down.
I try to scream but can’t.
Mic 1:
I’ve learned to make a deep groan to wake someone up.
Mic 2:
Sometimes when I’m alone, I hear someone come in, walk around my bed… then leave.
It doesn’t even scare me anymore.
Mic 1:
That’s wild.
Mic 2:
Do you ever wonder… is this real, or are we dreaming right now?
Mic 1:
The Matrix.
Mic 3:
Okay, what time is it? I don’t wanna be here too late.
Mic 2:
We’ll be the only ones here.
Mic 3:
Wrap it up.
Mic 1:
Alright, I think we’re done.
Mic 2:
Well… that was interesting.
